Facebook doesn’t freely allow HTML code to be place in user’s profiles like MySpace does. For me this is a good thing because it keeps pages looking consistent and loading fast. I hate it when I’m listening to my own music on iTunes while browsing MySpace and somebody’s page has music blasting over my music. On top of that, the MySpace user decides to use a blinding color for the background, which almost puts me in an epilepsy attack.
The Differences between Facebook and MySpace
Instead of putting code in your profile for MySpace, you can install applications onto your Facebook profile. MySpace has started cloning some of the aspects of Facebook such as status updates, applications, and the friend finder feature. So now the differences in features do not vary too much because of this, but layouts are still different like night and day. But don’t fret; you still can customize your Facebook page.
How can you use Facebook templates and layouts?
There is an application on Facebook called My Stuff which allows you to paste your own code to be able to have videos, images, or slideshows. But with the new Facebook profile design, the My Stuff application will show up on the left hand column of your page. So be warned that you still won’t have the freedom of code editing like a MySpace page.
