Britney Spears: engagement number three

Britney Spears is to marry for a third time at the age of 30 after getting engaged to her long term boyfriend.

The pop star is engaged to her former agent Jason Trawick with whom she has been in a relationship since May 2010.

In a message to her 11 million followers on Twitter the singer said: “OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!!”

She later said she was heading to Las Vegas where she intended to throw a 40th birthday party for her fiance.

Trawick confirmed reports of the engagement to US television entertainment show Access Hollywood.

Spears was previously married to Kevin Federline, with whom she has two sons, six-year-old Sean Preston and five-year-old Jayden James. The couple divorced in 2006.

She was also briefly married to childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004, following a spontaneous wedding in Las Vegas, but the marriage was annulled after 55 hours.

Celebrity news magazine Us Weekly reported that Trawick popped the question at a private dinner, and presented the singer with a three-carat round stone and pave diamond ring.

Before her relationship with Trawick the singer suffered a turbulent few years in her personal and professional life, in which she lost custody of her children and was forced to enter rehabilitation after a public meltdown.
