M&Ms Canada Promo Via Google Maps

BBDO Proximity Canada and M&M’s launched a new campaign that could win someone a smart for two car. Essentially, it’s an online treasure hunt. People can look for clues seeded on the M&M’s social networking sites such as YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. Clues will be revealed over the next couple of weeks.
Those who want to join will have to go to FindRed.ca and connect with Facebook to join the competition and start hunting red inside a custom Google Street View app.
The results aren’t in yet but I am personally excited at how this is going to turn out. I am not from Canada and there aren’t many promotions that make me wish I am. This is one of those.
The brilliant thing about it their decision to use existing platforms to launch a campaign. Most of the time, brands settle with creating facebook apps or asking people to submit photos or videos. They miss on the fact that there are many existing platforms they can use to launch great promos.
So for all our Canada readers, go and find Red. He must be there in your country somewhere.
